Tata Power Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has invested in a number of projects across Odisha for the benefit of its habitants, bringing electricity to remote regions, villages and underdeveloped areas since its inception. From providing electricity to installing LED lights, to securing the electrical network in the elephant corridor area and laying cables to providing dedicated electrical feeders for the fishery sectors, TPNODL is constantly working towards the development of the areas which it services.
Here are some of the Projects executed by TPNODL in Odisha:
Biju Grama Jyoti Yojana (BGJY) is being funded by the Government of Odisha. Under this scheme habitations having population less than 100 are taken up for electrification. All the BPL households of the aforesaid habitations and Private LI points are taken up for electrification.
The following works were executed under this scheme:-
Electrification of balance habitations has been included in SAUBHAGYA scheme.
Biju Sahanchal Vidyut karan Yojana is being funded by Government of Odisha. Under this scheme electrification of habitations having population less than 100 in urban areas i.e. (municipality and NSC) and BPL Households of those habitations are taken up.
The following works were executed under this scheme:-
Electrification of balance Habitations has been included in SAUBHAGYA scheme.
All the balance un-electrified and partially electrified villages and the households are decided to cover under this scheme. The scope of work is as follows:-
All the electrification work has been completed and closure report Submitted to Government.
Project Cost is 470.15 Cr. The villages which are left out from all the above schemes were identified for electrification under this scheme along with other system strengthening work i.e. new/ upgradation of both 33KV /11KV line, renovation of 33/11KV line, separate dedicated feeder to Block head quarter with HVDS system, replacement/ renovation of bare LT line with AB cable, upgradation of single phase transformer to 3-Ph 25KVA, etc. were taken up under this scheme.
OPTCL is the executing agency and NPTI (Feedback Infra) is engaged as Project Monitoring Agency (PMA). Work is awarded to M/S Vindhya Telelinks Ltd. The work has already been started and is in verge of completion under five districts of TPNODL and the progress of the scheme is as follows:
Government of India has launched Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) for the urban areas with the following components:
Rs.326.35 Crs was sanctioned for execution of the above works under this scheme. OPTCL is the executing agency and NPTI (Feedback Infra) is engaged as Project Monitoring Agency (PMA). Work has been awarded to M/s OSIC.
For quality supply of power to the consumers and to address the low voltage problem in rural area, Government of Odisha in Energy Department has decided to construct 99 nos of New 33/11 KV Substations in three phases in TPNODL operational area with an aim to reduce the high technical loss arising due to the length of 11 KV and 33KV lines and to provide uninterrupted power supply at appropriate voltage to the consumers by increasing the number of 33/11 KV Substations.
Work has already been started and charging has been completed in 85 nos of substations and 75 nos. of 33/11KV substations have been handed over to DISCOMs out of the scope of 99.
The Government of Odisha is concerned about the safety and security of children going to schools and Anganwadi premises as they are the citizens in making and future of the nation. So, the State Government has decided to shift lines and transformers from the premises of 2638 nos. of Government schools and Anganwadi centres in the DISCOM area. Rs. 24.62Cr has already been received for this purpose.
However, lines and s/s of 1667 nos. of schools and Anganwadi centres has already been completed out of the proposed 2638 nos.
Government has decided to provide dedicated electrical feeders for the fishery sectors. For which, 6 nos. of pisciculture feeders have been taken up in first phase. The commissioning of dedicated feeders will provide growth and support to the fishery sector with development of ancillary activities like cold storage, food processing unit etc. Similarly, supply of reliable and quality power will maximizing fish and prawn production, their cleaning, grading, refrigeration and preservation, so that the need of separate electrical feeder is felt.
Under this flagship scheme of GoO infrastructure created are as below;
OPTCL is the executing agency and WAPCOS is engaged as Project Monitoring Agency (PMA) and the work is awarded to M/S GPIL, However the work is under progress and likely to be completed by 31.03.2022.
The Government Of Odisha has decided to infuse 1, 5000 nos. of transformers to the existing system for upgradation of overloaded Power Transformers and Distribution Transformers (to avoid burning of transformers) and replacement of burnt/ theft transformers, out of which NESCO's share is 3200 nos. (i.e. 300 nos. of PT and 2900 nos. of DTR). After implementation, the rate of burning of transformer will reduced and DISCOMs are able to achieve 24x7 power supply to the consumers.
In first phase, procurement action for 1135 nos. of DTR by OPTCL has already been completed for the FY 2016-17. Further, 863 nos. of DTRs have been received in 2nd Phase and 902 nos. of DTRs in 3rd Phase have been allotted by OPTCL, out of which TPNODL has received 2862 nos of DTR's.
Till date TPNODL has installed 1481 nos of DTR's under the Scheme.
Considering the frequent electrocution of Elephants in recent times, TPNODL felt it necessary to strengthen the infrastructure in the Elephant Corridor areas of Odisha. The scheme was launched during the F.Y 2012-13. The works under the Scheme is being implemented by NESCO.
Under this scheme, Rs. 44.505Cr was sanctioned for three phases (i.e.PH-I, PH-II, PH-III) against which an expenditure of Rs.39.807Cr has already been completed and UC of Rs.34.89Cr has already submitted to GoO for above three Phases.
Under PH-IV for 50 packages estimated cost of Rs.181.12Cr was submitted to Government out of which 31Packages of estimated cost of Rs.107.9Cr are taken up as per availability of Funds. Under PH-IV Government has sanctioned an amount of Rs.105.5Cr (i.e. 26.5Cr+30Cr+30Cr+19Cr)
In order to improve the power supply condition of Ratha Danda, Baripada, the Government has provided financial assistance to NESCO during 2015-16. For implementation of the project, Government of Odisha has provided financial support of Rs. 4.29 Crore. Under these scheme HT/LT cable laying, sub-station work, streetlight foundation, installation of RMU's and LT distribution panel work has been completed except providing service connection to LT feeder Pillars, rectification of HT U/G cable laid between Mathapokari to MPC college RMU's and rectification/re-installation of MPC college RMU.
Target date of completion of the project is 30.03.2022
The 4 villages of Sarei and Baruan in Keonjhar district and Sasada and Khandahata in Jajpur district of Odisha were selected for this scheme. The Project Cost of Rs. 11.69 lakhs was sanctioned and received during April 2016 and the installation work has already been completed and a payment of Rs. 6,55,688/- have been made to the contractor and UC for this amount have been submitted to EIC(E)-cum-PCEI and SDA (O), BBSR vide T.O. letter No. 13261 dated 17.10.2017.
The aim of the scheme was to provide last mile connectivity and electricity connection to all un-electrified households in rural areas and to all remaining economically poor un-electrified households in urban areas. Non-poor urban households were excluded from the scheme. At present, 156816 nos. of households have been electrified and an expenditure of Rs.125.46Cr was incurred towards completion of the Project. All the work pertaining to the said scheme was already been completed and closure report submitted to Government.
